OUR LEGAL NOTICE
ND Paralegal Services provides licensed paralegal services in the Province of Ontario. Our paralegals are licensed and regulated by the Law Society of Ontario (LSO) pursuant to the Law Society Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. L.8, as amended, and the By-Laws thereunder.
Licensed paralegals in Ontario are authorized to represent clients in specific areas of law, including:
SCOPE OF PARALEGAL PRACTICE IN ONTARIO:
Proceedings before the Ontario Small Claims Court (claims up to $35,000); proceedings before the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB); proceedings before the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB) including refugee claims, refugee appeals, immigration appeals, and detention reviews; provincial offences and minor criminal charges under the Provincial Offences Act; proceedings before certain administrative tribunals and boards; and traffic and Highway Traffic Act matters.
Paralegals are not authorized to provide legal advice or representation in matters outside the scope prescribed by the Law Society of Ontario, including but not limited to family law, wills and estates, real estate conveyancing, corporate law, or any criminal offences beyond the defined scope.
⚠ If your matter falls outside the permitted scope of paralegal practice, we will advise you accordingly and, where appropriate, refer you to a licensed lawyer.
ND Paralegal Services provides Notary Public services in Ontario. A Notary Public in Ontario is appointed by the provincial government and is authorized to witness signatures, administer oaths and affirmations, certify true copies of documents, and authenticate documents for use in Ontario and abroad — including Apostille services for international use.
It is important to note that an Ontario Notary Public is not the same as a civil law Notary (notaire) in Quebec or in other civil law jurisdictions. Ontario Notaries do not draft wills, transfer real property, or hold funds in trust in the same capacity as civil law notaries.
IMPORTANT LIMITATION
Notarization of documents does not constitute legal advice. The notarization of a signature or document confirms only the identity of the signatory and the authenticity of the signature — it does not represent that the underlying document is legally valid, enforceable, or appropriate for its intended purpose.
